2. Principle
Audiowalks is built so that as little personal data as possible is collected. This website uses no cookies, no analytics tools, no tracking and no advertising. Fonts are served locally; no data is sent to font providers when you load a page.
Processing follows the Swiss Data Protection Act (revFADP); where applicable, the EU GDPR is additionally taken into account.
3. Website hosting and server logs
This website is operated through Vercel (Vercel Inc., USA). Delivery and server logs are handled via the Frankfurt am Main region (Germany, EU). When you visit, Vercel processes technically necessary connection data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser identifier) in server logs for the secure and stable operation of the site. These logs are deleted after a short time.
4. The app: account and data storage
The app works without registration. On first launch it creates an anonymous account so your tours can be stored and synced. We do not ask for your name or email.
The tours you generate (route, stops, written scripts and audio) are stored on our backend, operated through Supabase. They are linked only to your anonymous account identifier, which does not identify you as a person.
5. Location data
While you walk, the app uses your device location to play the right narration as you reach each stop. This proximity matching happens on your device; we do not store a history of your movements.
When you create a tour, the place you search for (its name and coordinates) is sent to our backend so a route and script can be generated for it.
6. Tour generation
To generate a tour, the place and your chosen settings are sent encrypted (TLS) to our backend and passed to an AI provider (OpenRouter, Inc., USA, with models from Google and others) to write the script and produce the narration. Factual content is drawn from public sources such as Wikipedia, with attribution stored alongside each image.
These requests contain the place and tour settings, not personal data about you.
7. Purchases
Any purchases are handled through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive your payment details. To manage purchase status we use RevenueCat, Inc., USA, which processes an anonymous usage identifier and the purchase state. The privacy terms of Apple and Google additionally apply.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to object to processing. You can delete your tours and your anonymous account directly in the app. For anything else, an email to the address above is sufficient.
9. Changes
This policy may be adapted, for example when the app gains new features. The version published here at any given time applies.
